In this session, you’ll learn about the growing number of Berklee students earning a “hybrid” degree by transferring in coursework that was previously completed on Berklee's campus and earning additional credits with Berklee Online. Debbie Cavalier is the Vice President for Online Learning and Continuing Education/CEO for Berklee Online, the online continuing education division of Berklee College of Music. Berklee Online delivers access to Berklee's acclaimed curricula from anywhere in the world with award-winning courses, certificate programs, and bachelor degree programs accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and taught by the college's world-renowned music faculty.

Recently, Cavalier's leadership led Berklee to partner with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) to offer a one-of-a-kind online MBA in Music Business. She also spearheaded institutional partnerships with Coursera and edX so that Berklee could provide its curricula at no cost to aspiring musicians around the world via MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). Cavalier was part of the leadership team that founded Berklee's online school in 2002.



Prior to this, Cavalier was the Dean of Online and Continuing Education at Berklee, a music publishing executive at CPP/Belwin and Warner Bros. Publications, and a music educator. She is a graduate Berklee's Music Education program, holds Master's degree in Education from Cambridge College, and continues to further her studies in music, business, and online education. 



As a music education publishing veteran, Cavalier has penned 100+ music education methods books and arrangements for Carl Fischer, First Act, Alfred Publishing, and Warner Bros. Publications. She is also the leader of the award-winning kids/family band Debbie & Friends, performing full-band concerts throughout the U.S. Debbie & Friends also produces cartoon music videos that have been placed on TV, Cable, retail outlets, and a host of Apps for children. Debbie & Friends had the great honor to be part of the 2011 Grammy Award-winning CD for Best Children's Album with their song "Walk Away."
